Visa cardholder discounts and rewards are aplenty at the annual Amazing Thailand Grand Sale this year.

To kick-start the annual shopping extravaganza, a series of promotions and prizes are available to shoppers, including the 30-Day Experience Amazing Thailand Holiday prize which is open to overseas shoppers and the chance to win a THB 1 million gift voucher for local shoppers.

To qualify for either draw, shoppers simply need to spend THB 500 on a single receipt between 15 June and 15 August 2011 at participating merchants for one chance at winning. Shoppers can enjoy double chances when they pay with their Visa card.

All Visa cardholders can also enjoy up to 80% discounts and other privileges from more than 15,000 participating merchants in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Samui, Hadyai and Phuket.

Somboon Krobteeranon, Country Manager, Thailand, Visa said, "Visa has worked with the Tourism Authority of Thailand for the past 13 years to promote the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale. Our campaigns have made this sale an unmissable event and this year we are stepping up efforts to boost Thailands reputation as the premier shopping and holiday destination in Asia Pacific. From high-end brand names to local dining haunts, resorts, hotels and exotic handicraft shops, the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale will fill every shopping bag with great value."

During the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2010, Thai retailers brought in US$624 million in sales from foreign-issued Visa cards. Visa has also seen an increase in spending on international cards from January-March 2011 with a 13.3% increase in total payment volume and almost US$1.6 billion spent in the first quarter 2011. The key drivers behind the growth came mainly from increased spending by travelers from Australia and Scandinavia, as well as the fast growing BRIC group of nations.

TAT expects overall sales to grow by five percent this year.
