The Shanghai World Expo Culture Center has been rebranded and reopened as the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

The Mercedes-Benz Arena is the car giant’s first sponsored entertainment arena outside Germany.

“We are very proud of our relationship with our naming rights partner Mercedes-Benz” said Guy Ngata, General Manager of AEG-OPG Culture and Sports (Shanghai) Co, Ltd the company managing Mercedes-Benz Arena.

The Mercedes-Benz Arena Grand Opening Ceremony will be held on 15 January 2011 with high profile events celebrating Mercedes-Benz’s 115th global anniversary.

The six-level Mercedes-Benz Arena seats up to 18,000 with state-of-the-art acoustics and production elements capable of hosting the biggest indoor shows.

The 365-day-a-year lifestyle destination also hosts Shanghai’s leading cinematic experience on the 6th floor, with six screens and total seating for 800, showcasing both international and Chinese movies.

During the past six-month expo, the Shanghai World Expo Culture Center attracted on average 50,000 visitors a day and over 8 million visitors during the six month event. There were 261 daily performances by the Oriental Song and Dance Troupe, as well as 14 special events while The Mixing Room hosted 70 performances.
