Executive Appointments @ Sofitel Hotels in China

Sofitel Luxury Hotels has made the following new appointments at its hotels across Greater China.

Johnson Zhang has been appointed as General Manager of the Sofitel Wanda Ningbo. Johnson developed his skills and competencies by attending the Shangri-La Management training centre and Hotel Executive Development program, as well as achieving a certificate from the American Hotel & Motel association and Hotel school The Hague. He worked at Shangri-La for 8 successful years in Beihai and Xian and held respective positions as Executive Assistant Manager and Resident Manager. Johnson's last position was General Manager of Holiday Inn City Centre in Harbin.

 Damian Niesel has been appointed as General Manager of the Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Oriental and Area General Manager Sofitel Oriental Hotels China. Damian came to China for the first time in 1991, since then he has worked with InterContinental Hotels Group, Shangri-La Hotel in both Hangzhou and Beihai, and the Holiday Inn in Harbin. After that, Damian accepted the role as Chief Operations Officer with Qatar National Hotels in Doha.

Tony Colella has been appointed as the new General Manager of the Sofitel Dongguan Humen Oriental. Tony started his career with various positions in the hotel industry in Paris, London and Australia. Tony came to China for the first time in 1995, and was Managing Director of New Horizon Hotel Management, Executive General Manager of the Guangdong International Hotel Complex, and General Manager of Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Oriental.

 Maarten Dirks has been appointed as Regional Director of Talent Development & Training Sofitel Greater China and Director of Quality Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16. Previously Dirks was Regional Trainer for Sofitel Northern Europe.

Rudy Rodas has been appointed as General Manager of the Sofitel Qingdao with effect from 1 September 2010. Rodas started his career with Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast as Room Service Manager and Assistant Restaurant Manager in 1987, he then joined Accor in January 2000 as Director of Food & Beverage at Sofitel Raja Orchid Khon Kaen, Thailand. Rodas was also the Executive Assistant Manager of Sofitel Reef Casino Cairns and Resident Manager at Novotel Apollo Singapore. Rodas took up his first position as General Manager at Novotel Oasis Beijing, he then became the General Manager of Sofitel Plaza Xiamen Hotel.

 Danny Yeo has been appointed as the General Manager of the Sofitel Dongguan Royal Lagoon & Sofitel Dongguan Golf Resort, effective from 3 September 2010. Graduated from the Academie Accor IHMP program in Asia in 2008, Yeo was Hotel Manager and Resident Manager at Sofitel Xian prior to this latest appointment.

Kitty Qi has been appointed as Director of Marketing and Communications at the Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich. She will be responsible for establishing the brand for Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, a new hotel scheduled to be opened this winter. Prior to rejoining Sofitel this year, Qi was Marketing and Communications Manager for Westin Guangzhou.
