Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 8 June 2009

Kuwait’s Wataniya Airways has launched flights to Damascus. The historical city of Damascus is Wataniya Airways’ sixth route since launching operations in late January 2009.

The airline will fly 5 return flights to Damascus each week, adding a significant destination to its current network which includes Dubai, Bahrain, Cairo, Beirut and Amman.

Damascus is of tremendous interest to Kuwaiti leisure and business travellers as well as the large Syrian community residing in Kuwait.

“I’m thrilled that we have secured the traffic rights to fly to Damascus International Airport, representing another key milestone in our aspiration to deliver premium service to attractive destinations with great schedules and competitive prices” said Wataniya Airways Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Abdul Salam Al Bahar. “Syria has long held close historical ties with Kuwait, both politically and economically, and we are delighted to be able to offer our guests the option to fly in style and elegance to this beautiful city.”

Wataniya Airways currently operates three brand new Airbus A320 aircraft.
