Subsequent to the recent announcement of
Kurt Wachtveitl’s retirement after 41 years as General Manager
of the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group
has confirmed that Mr Wachtveitl will remain with the group in the
capacity of Special Adviser.
Throughout his career, Kurt
Wachtveitl has been a pioneer in the hotel industry and has played
a significant role in the global recognition of Mandarin Oriental
Hotel Group.
As a Special Adviser his new responsibilities will include
acting as Brand Ambassador at Mandarin Oriental events worldwide,
the recruitment and development of talented employees, and
assisting in the development of new hotel projects, restaurant
concepts and spa operations.

will remain with the Group to take up the challenge of this
important new role,” said Edouard Ettedgui, Group Chief Executive,
“For over 40 years he has provided the best example of gracious
hospitality in the hotel industry, and we will all continue to
benefit from his wealth of knowledge and extraordinary
