Travelport GDS has appointed Simon Nowroz as President and Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region, following the decision by Brad Holman to leave the company in early 2010.

Previously Managing Director of Travelport Asia, Nowroz assumed this region-wide role on Monday, 28 September 2009. Nowroz will continue to be based in Hong Kong and Shelley Beasley, Managing Director for the Pacific region, now reports to Nowroz.

Simon Nowroz was appointed Managing Director, Asia in 2006 and has since then been responsible for Travelport GDS’ commercial operations in Asia and identifying strategic and business development opportunities in the region.

In addition to overseeing Travelport’s operations in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Malaysia and the Philippines, he has been instrumental in forging and growing partnerships with distributors in India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Bangladesh.

Prior to his latest roles, Nowroz held the position of Vice President Sales and Marketing, Asia for Cendant TDS, which was acquired by Travelport in 2006. He has extensive experience in the travel sector including roles with British Midland Airways and Budget Rent a Car.

“Within Travelport’s Asia Pacific region, we’ve been very fortunate to have a strong and capable leadership team. I would like to thank Brad Holman for his contributions to our business over many years, which include developing strong airline relationships in the region, developing our European and Middle East travel agency business during his time in London and ensuring Travelport is Asia Pacific’s market-leading GDS,” said Armin Meier, Chief Commercial Officer, Travelport GDS.
