Rezidor has signed what will be its 7th Park Inn
hotel in Norway. The Park Inn Steinkjer will feature 110 rooms and
is scheduled to open in Q1 2011.
Amidst the
fjords and mountains of central Norway, the new Park Inn Steinkjer
will feature 110 guest rooms, an all day dining restaurant,
meeting space and parking.
Adjacent to the waterfront hotel are
two important attractions: a water park / spa and a gallery devoted
to the work of the late Jakob Weidemann.
Weidemann grew up in
Steinkjer and proceeded to become one of the most influential
abstract artists within Norway’s modernist art movement in the
1950’s.
The region was one of the Viking’s most important
strongholds and the site of religious and seasonal gatherings. As
the Viking festivals ended hundreds of years ago, demand is now
generated by a mix of corporate and leisure travellers. The latter
drawn to area’s impressive natural beauty.
Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor said, “Norway is one of our most important home
markets – with almost 6,000 rooms in operation, the country
accounts for 10% of our existing portfolio.”
Launched in early 2003, Park Inn
today comprises more than 130 hotels with more than 24,000 rooms
in operation or under development across EMEA.
