The NewsMakers’ 4th Clutter Sale for Charity, to be held on Saturday, 17 October 2009, at the Grand Ballroom of the Four Seasons Hotel in Bangkok, is inviting those with excess to unload.

Whether you have furniture that did not match the interior design you had in mind, more travel bags than you need, or just too many clothes, leather goods or sports gear, then the 4th Clutter Sale for Charity is the perfect opportunity to help make a difference and unclutter.

Held annually since 2006, this one-day event has been attracting hundreds of bargain hunters on the lookout for treasures sold by the glitterati, members of the expat and diplomatic communities, and the public, some of whom volunteer their time and “clutter” to help raise money for charity. This year’s recipient is the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer.

The goods sold are primarily unused or nearly-new second-hand items in mint condition. Past events have seen, among others, certified brand-name goods, vintage clothes, fashion accessories, jewellery, home accessories, sports equipment and the occasional Ferrari, SUV, motorcycle, and antiques.

Companies, such as Sisley and ICC, have also donated their overruns while fashion houses such as Kai Boutique, Paothong and Rico-a-Mona sold their slightly used catwalk outfits.

Support for the event has grown over the past three years, foremost being the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok which has been providing free use of the Grand Ballroom. Prominent personalities, various women’s groups and the diplomatic community have also been lending their support.

Past celebrity vendors and donors included HRH Princess Petcharat Rajasuda, Noi and Melanie Clapp, Ausana Mahagitsiri, Kong Dabbaransi, Vee Marr, ML Laksasubha Kridakorn, Tipaporn Ajanant, Supornthip Chuongrangsee, Suvimol Mahagitsiri, Panita and Dej Tulyadhan, Busaracum Chansue of The Mall Group, Dararat Mahadumrongkul, Chatchanit Mahaguna, Dolchai Boonyaratavej, Kamala Sukosol, Kookie Tinakorn Asavarak, ML Laksasubha Kridakorn, Miss Thailand ’06 Lalana Kongtoranin, ML Nandhika Vorawan, Suthinee Xumsai, Tipaporn Ajanant and friends, Vee Mar, Viparadee Phuvanatrarnubala, Virapoj Asvajarn, and Thanpuying Viwan Vorawan.

For this year’s event, a Diplomats’ Table has been set aside for items donated by the diplomatic community. A Lucky Draw will be held for a chance to win prizes, with tickets priced at THB 40 each.

Interested vendors are advised to book their tables early, as booking is on a first come, first served basis. Vendors with personal clutter are required to make a donation of Bht 2,000 per table while semi-business vendors’ donation per table is Bht 3,000. Donations in kind will also be accepted to be sold at the event’s Charity Corner.
