Nikki Beach Sponsors Samui Regatta

The recently opened Nikki Beach Koh Samui, has signed up as an official sponsor of this years Sawadee.com Regatta Samui, to be held from June 1-6, 2009. Nikki Beach will be hosting the June 3rd party, the evening before the sailors layday.

The regatta is now in its 8th year and is widely regarded by the yachting community as one of the favorite sailing events in the region. The final event in the Asian Yachting Grand Prix, the Samui regatta attracts some of the best boats and crews from across the region.

Last year saw some 300 participants from over around the world, with entries for 2009 likely to exceed this figure by an estimated 20%.

Confirmed entries already include Ichi Ban - Matt Allen/Toni Curren (Australia), Pornstar - Kipsan Beck (Thailand), Boracay (Jelik II) - Frank Pong (Hong Kong), Quantum Racing - Ray Roberts (Australia), Cedar Swan - Radab Kanchavanit (Thailand).

Andy Tsavos, General Manager, Nikki Beach Samui said, We look forward to hosting many of Asias leading sailors and their families together with the international travelers and yachting enthusiasts the event always attracts. Over the years, the regatta has consistently raised the profile of Samui as a yachting destination. We believe that with the sponsorship of Nikki Beach, that profile will now be raised to a whole new level.

The Sawadee.com Samui Regatta 2009 will take place on Monday 1st June, Tuesday 2nd June, Wednesday 3rd June, Friday 5th June and Saturday 6th June. On the lay day of Thursday 4th June a Childrens Junior Regatta will be held. And as a prelude to the regatta proper, a 12-foot Skiff regatta will take place from 29th-31st May with full details expected to be confirmed shortly.

The regatta party at Nikki Beach is scheduled for 7 to 10pm on Wednesday 3rd June.
