A search is well underway for the missing Air France plane, flight AF 447 travelling from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to Paris, France. The plane is believed to have come down somewhere over the Atlantic, but as yet nothing has been officially found.

On board the Airbus A330-200 were a total of 228 passengers and crew. Of these, the majority were Brazilian, French and German but it is believed that there were around 29 other nationalities onboard.

In an attempt to help the distraught friends and family, medical and psychological assistance involving specialist physicians has been set up at Paris-Charles de Gaulle 2 and Rio de Janeiro airports.

A toll-free number has also been established for the relatives and friends of passengers. The numbers reserved exclusively for relatives and friends are:

0800 800 812 in France
0800 881 20 20 in Brazil
and + 33 1 57 02 10 55 for calls from all other countries.
