Diethelm Travel India appoints New Managing Director

Diethelm Travel India (DTI) has appointed Tekla Maira as Managing Director, effective 1 September 2009.

Tekla has a wealth of senior management experience with such respected companies as Hyatt, ITC, and Oberoi.

CEO, Diethelm Travel Group (DTG), John Watson said, "Due to the elevation of Himmat Anand to the position of President, DTI, to focus purely on strategic issues, we sought a strong candidate to continue the excellent start we have made in India. Tekla's excellent knowledge of the leisure and MICE markets will help us grow our business in line with our plan to be the number one quality inbound player in India. Several large high-profile groups have signed up to tour with us in 2010."

Himmat Anand added, "With the economic scenario looking likely to revive in early 2010, we felt this was the right time for us to strengthen our structure, enhance our efforts and be ready when the upturn happens."
