At first, call centers, supermarkets, petrol stations and restaurants seized on ‘24/7’ as a
required service attribute. Now hotels are learning that many guests
want the same access to their fitness centres. In response, the gym at the
Caravelle Hotel in Ho Chi
Minh City, Vietnam, now remains open 24/7. While the pool will still close
between the hours of 10pm and 6am, the gym remains open.
“When it’s 1am in Ho Chi Minh City, it’s 1pm for our guests from New York who have just checked into the hotel,” said John Gardner,
General Manager of the Caravelle. “Increasingly, we’re finding that those running on different clocks want access to the fitness facility in the small hours
of the night.”
The Caravelle’s 128-square-meter fitness center features American made fitness equipment, including five Star Trac treadmills, two Star Trac
steppers, two upright bikes, two recumbent bikes, an indoor rower and strength training equipment from 14 other companies.
The gym will remain open for hotel guests only.
