Tom McLoughlin and Jane Quinn relinquish Executive Positions and Sell Shareholding in Per Aquum

Per Aquum, operators of the innovative portfolio of award-winning properties including Huvafen Fushi in the Maldives, The Fortress in Sri Lanka and Desert Palm in Dubai, was established as a venture between Universal Enterprises (Universal) of the Maldives and husband and wife team, Tom McLoughlin and Jane Quinn in 2003.

After eight years in the Maldives, five of which they dedicated to working with Universal to create Per Aquum’s distinctive new concept in luxury travel and spa offering innovation in design, technology and service delivery, Tom and Jane have decided to relinquish their executive positions in Per Aquum with effect from 30 November 2008 and chosen to sell their shareholding in Per Aquum to Universal.

Universal invests in several resorts, including widely popular properties such as Baros, Kurumba and Full Moon in the Maldives and Labriz in the Seychelles.

Tom McLoughlin said, “It has taken Jane and I a long time to come to this decision but we feel it’s one that is right in our time of life and for the well being of our family. It has been a tremendous privilege for both Jane and myself to work with Universal in developing a brand that in its short history has achieved global recognition as a leader in the premium hospitality sector and we wish to thank Universal, our fellow colleagues at Per Aquum and the property teams, plus our all-important guests and friends in the travel industry and media for their constant support. We have been very proud to have been part of the vision, birth and creation of Per Aquum and wish it continued success for the future.”

Andrew Spearman has been appointed as Managing Director - Resort Collection and will commence in November 2008. The role of Managing Director - Spa Collection will be assumed by Carsten Hundertmark in September 2008. Both Andrew and Carsten have formidable records of achievement through successful executive  positions managing regional operations and projects in the international luxury resort and spa segments.
