Tiger
Airways Australia has selected Adelaide to be its next home base. This represents a long term commitment by the airline to increase
operations in South Australia resulting in more than 10 million additional passengers using Adelaide airport over the next eight years.
Tiger Aviation Chief Operating Officer Steve Burns said, “This is a significant milestone for the Tiger
Airways Group as continues its rapid expansion across Asia and Australia
..... The announcement of Tiger Aviation’s second Australia hub highlights Tiger Aviation’s expansive growth strategy while
complementing operating bases of Singapore, Melbourne, Australia and
Incheon, South Korea.”
Tiger Airways will initially base 2 of its brand new A319s, once they have been delivered from the
Airbus factory in Hamburg, at the new Adelaide base from early next year with the expectation that
additional aircraft will be based there over the next 8 years. This investment by Tiger Airways
of more than A$100m in aircraft assets in Adelaide means more jobs in South Australia with Tiger
Airways recruiting pilots, cabin crew and support staff to be based locally in Adelaide.
