London’s
Claridges Hotel has unveiled a collection of eight newly designed ‘Claridge’s Suites’.
Two of the new suites feature an innovative wet room design which aims to maximise the
space available without compromising on style. The wet rooms are luxuriously finished with polished chrome fittings, each with Art Deco
detailing, the highest quality handpicked slabs of marble sourced from Antolini’s in Verona, Italy, and hand-etched Art Deco shower doors.
British
designer, David Linley said, "Bathrooms are now seen to be as important as the bedroom itself. They are a place for guests to escape and relax and
therefore must be indulgent, extravagant and luxurious."
Each bright and spacious bathroom includes a large double basin above a floating
marble shelf and a full size bath and double shower. One suite in particular boasts the classic Claridge’s head and shoulder shower for ladies
not wishing to wet their hair.
The introduction of modern technology into the bathrooms is seamless with flat screen televisions
embedded into the glistening marble wall at the foot of each bath, under floor heating and steam-resistant heated mirrors.
Each suite has its own distinct colour palette and fabric selection, as well as unique works of art and wooden flooring throughout the bedroom
and sitting room. Original Art Deco features, such as glass, or silver fireplaces, clocks or wall lights, have been restored and in certain places
have become the focal point of the suite. These features have been matched by pieces specifically designed to complement them in style, texture
and feel.
The Art Deco bedrooms retain their original headboards and dressing tables, and feature the ‘Claridge’s Tub Chairs’, designed exclusively for
the hotel, to sit alongside Deco inspired mirrors and prints.
