MasterCard Worldwide has launched a ‘MasterCard Enjoy! Japan’ campaign which has been introduced in support of the ‘Visit Japan’ campaign, a yearly initiative hosted by the national government in Japan to promote incoming foreign tourist traffic and attract 10 million visitors to the country by 2010.

The ‘MasterCard Enjoy! Japan’ campaign is jointly organized by MasterCard and Japan Travel Bureau Corporation, and is supported by the Japan National Tourist Organization. It will run throughout Asia Pacific, a region which contributes significantly to Japan’s foreign tourist traffic.

During the campaign period, up to 31 July, foreign travelers can enjoy perks and exclusive offers when using their MasterCard cards to make purchases at participating retailers in Japan, including department stores, dedicated duty-free stores, consumer electronics stores, and travel service websites among others.

Cardholders who use their foreign issued MasterCard cards when making online hotel and tour reservations on the campaign web page at JAPANiCAN (www.japanican.com/campaign/mastercard) will be eligible for special privileges such as complimentary gifts and discounts vouchers for spas and saunas. The campaign web page is available in several languages, including English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), and Korean.

MasterCard will also be providing cardholders with a chance to avail other prizes as they participate in lucky draws upon making purchases of a specified amount at a range of retailers, including LaOX (Akihabara), Mitsukoshi (Nihonbashi, Ginza, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo), Takashimaya (Nihonbashi and Shinjuku), and Japan Duty Free Shops (Narita and Haneda airports).

Details of ‘MasterCard Enjoy! Japan’ campaign are available at tourism counters of SUNRIZE Tours and during selected bus tours operated by JTB Global Marketing & Travel as well as at retailers participating in the campaign.
