Experienced account manager and travel industry professional Matthew John has been appointed as Corporate Sales Manager for Europcar, one of New Zealand’s leading car rental agencies.

Matthew joined Europcar’s rapidly growing Auckland-based team earlier this months with extensive experience in the car hire industry and more than 15 years of experience in the domestic and international travel industry.

Prior to joining Europcar at the business’s Auckland City base, which is one of Europcar’s busiest locations on the North Island, Matthew held the role of key account manager with Thrifty Car Rental NZ. Matthew spent fours years with Thrifty where he was responsible for managing the corporate component of the rental business including retention, acquisition, client liaison and recruitment of new business.

Matthew’s previous roles also include several senior positions with Air New Zealand which included key account manager within the airline’s sales department as well as team leader of Air New Zealand’s group revenue and accounting department.

The Gulf Harbour-based father brings to the table extensive management experience after working in senior roles with Auckland Central Backpackers, Fullers Bay of Islands and Travelers Contact Point.

“This is an opportunity to take on a more senior role and increased responsibility with a company I believe has room for future strategic growth,” Matthew said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge of further establishing Europcar’s brand within New Zealand’s car hire sector and the wider travel industry.”
