Crown Macau has been elected as one of the awardees at the Prime Awards for Eco-Business 2008 recently held in Hong Kong. The
Awards recognize the effort and accomplishments of promoting green environment and Crown Macau is the only hotel and casino in
Macau that has been selected along with other large-scale corporations such as The
Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, The Hong Kong Electric Co. Ltd. and MTR Corporation Ltd.
The judging panel consisted of
representatives from major Hong Kong environmental protection organizations, commence and
industry associations and academic scholars. Entries were judged on such criteria as strategy and measure, consciousness, and
innovative idea on environmental protection.
As a responsible corporate citizen,
the Crown Macau is dedicated to supporting environmental protection with a number of effective measures
which have been incorporated into the design of the property. Crown Macau is
one of the only buildings in Macau to have installed a sophisticated
waste recycling system called Grey Water System.
Today, about half of the hotel's daily operations in flushing and irrigations come from this source. Other measures include utilizing
an heat
pump and calorifier system to reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gas and installing
an Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) system
to better use the energy.
"We are honoured and proud to have received the Prime Awards for Eco-Business 2008," said Mr. Keith Heise, Chief Executive Officer of
Crown Macau. "This is the outcome of the hard work and dedication of all Crown Macau staff. We will continue to support Macau SAR's
pursuit of green environment."
