The Nam
Hai, a luxury all-villa beachfront resort in Central Vietnam has won its first award for 2008 claiming the top prize in the Best Resort
category at the distinguished Travel & Leisure Magazine Design Awards 2008.
"To receive the Best Resort from Travel & Leisure's Design Awards for 2008 is a true testament to the beauty of the resort. The Nam Hai is
setting the standards for resorts in Vietnam and we are very pleased and proud to accept this award" said Wayne Duberly, General
Manager, The Nam Hai.
The jury included many well known connoisseurs of design such David Rockwell and Agnes Gund and various others from the fashion, art
and culture world.
The Nam Hai is the Asian flagship resort for the world famous GHM Hotel Group. Chairman of GHM, Adrian Zecha is one of the world's
leading creators and operators of award-winning, distinctive luxury hotels and resorts throughout Asia and the USA.
The Nam Hai is
one of Vietnam's most exclusive luxury oceanfront resorts and features 60 one-bedroom villas and 40 pool villas, ranging from one
to five bedrooms, each with its own infinity pool, located on 35 hectares of landscaped gardens along Vietnam's famous China Beach. The
pool villas feature expansive stone decks and oversized private pools, which appear to merge with the blue ocean horizon.
These spacious, split level homes are contemporary in design with interiors featuring rich timber floors and detailed with distinctive
Vietnamese cultural elements to add a "sense of place". Elegant furniture, also in dark natural woods, is complemented by sumptuous
cream silks and other natural fabrics creating a setting of cool, calm, opulence which is framed by the breathtaking, unspoiled beauty right
on the doorstep. Views from the villas are of the wide, long, untouched beaches of Danang and offshore to the Cham Islands and nearby
mountain peaks.
The resorts boasts one of Vietnam's top spas, two gourmet restaurants with expansive views of the pools, gardens and ocean and a wide
range of recreational facilities such as tennis, health club, swimming pools, basketball court and badminton courts. An 18 hole golf course
designed by Colin Montgomerie is due to open nearby in 2008.
The Nam Hai is ideally located to explore Central Vietnam's unique culture and rich heritage with three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Hoi
An, My Son Valley and Hue within easy reach.
The best time to travel to The Nam Hai is between March and October due to the local micro-climate of Central Vietnam. The Nam Hai is a
30km drive from Danang International Airport by private transfer with daily flights
from many destinations including Bangkok, Singapore, Hanoi
and Ho Chi Minh City.
