SriLankan Airlines rewards Top Travel Agents in Singapore

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Tuesday, 18 March 2008

Earlier this month, SriLankan Airlines took to the skies with its top 10 travel agents in Singapore by presenting them revenue performance awards on the recently-opened Singapore Flyer, making them the first airline to stage a trade event on the city's latest attraction.

This annual event serves to recognise SriLankan Airlines’ loyal and dedicated agents who have been supporting the airline in the last financial year.

Mr. Ranil Wagiswara, Country Manager of SriLankan Airlines Singapore, said, “We wanted to do something different from the previous awards and the Singapore Flyer is something new. For all of us, including the agents, it was a first time and a truly unique experience.”

This year, the gold award went to Mr. Zakir Hussain of Serangoon Air Travel Pte Ltd while the silver went to Mr. Syed Omar Alsagoff of Airpower Travel Pte Ltd. Eight bronze awards were given out to other top-performing travel agents.

One of the bronze award recipients, Mr. Philip Ho of Uzi Travel Pte Ltd, said, “Thanks to SriLankan Airlines, we’ve had the pleasure of being the first travel agents to go on the Singapore Flyer and it was an amazing experience. What made the evening particularly special was the surprise ‘Top Travel Agent’ awards given out by the airline.”

SriLankan operates daily flights from Singapore providing convenient connections to Maldives, Europe, Middle East and 11 key cities in  India. The airline carried 3.2 million passengers around its global network in 2007, an increase of more than 100,000 over the previous year.
