There

some of the major events taking place in South Australia this year:
2007 World Police & Fire Arms Game
- 16-25 March 2007:
The World Police & Fire Games is a spectacular international sporting event, offering police officers, fire fighters, correctional services and
customs officers from around the world an opportunity to showcase their athletic talents in more than 65 diverse sporting events. Held every two
years, the Games are set to return to Australia in 2007. Form 16-25 March 2007, Adelaide, South Australia will host the largest sporting event ever
held in the city with over 15,000 competitors, supporters and officials from around the world.
International Rugby Sevens
- 7-8 April 2007:
Sixteen countries and some of the world’s fastest players. Forty-four games in just two days. A festival atmosphere - offering fun and excitement for the
whole family. And for the revellers, a party not to be missed. This is the IRB Sevens World Series - one of the fastest and most electrifying
sporting events on the planet. It’s speeding its way to Adelaide Oval in April 2007. Experience the rich traditions and fierce rivalry of this sport,
played in more than 120 countries and now being considered for inclusion in the Olympics. The venue - picturesque Adelaide Oval - will provide a
superb backdrop to the event, in the heart of this vibrant city. Adelaide is one of eight cities around the world to host the international 16-team
tournament for the next five years.
The Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive – SOLD OUT!
- 21 - 10 June 2007:
The Great Australian Outback Cattle recreates all the splendour and romance of historic cattle drives. This epic experience involves 500 head of
cattle and 150 horses, along with visitors from across Australia and around the world. More than 300 people have secured their place on the
adventure of a lifetime, The Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive. They will be part of the splendour and romance of historic cattle drives when
they saddle up for the journey in 2007 - which is now sold out. Visitors from around the world and around Australia will travel to South Australia to
ride with some of Australia's finest drovers and relive a very real part of Australian history, droving cattle on horseback through the Outback. This
epic experience involves 500 head of cattle and 150 horses, along with visitors from across Australia and around the world.
23rd Annual Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend 2007
- 5-6 May 2007:
The 23rd Annual Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend to be held on 5 and 6 May 2007 continues a tradition that began in 1985. The Vintage Tasting, at
the Brick Pavilion Clare Showground, offers a unique opportunity to taste in excess of 120 unreleased Clare Valley wines at various stages of the
winemaking process. Local winemakers are on hand to guide visitors through the experience of tasting juice, ferments, barrel samples right
through to finished wines.
Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival
- 18 - 20 May 2007:
The Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival in the Limestone Coast region is one of the most culturally distinguished regional festivals in Australia and
has become 'South Australia's leading regional arts festival.' It celebrates the literary and arts heritage and the fine wines of Coonawarra and will
feature a number of exciting events, workshops and performances.
Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2006
- 8 - 23 Jun 2007:
The Adelaide Cabaret Festival captures the whole gamut of cabaret, from the bierkellers of Weimar Germany to the glitz and glamour of the Las
Vegas casinos. From as far as London, Paris and New York, performers gather in Adelaide for music, theatre and song, all under the banner of
the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
Coonawarra Cellar Dwellers 2007
- 1 - 31 July 2007:
For the month of July 2007, Coonawarra Cellar Doors will showcase back vintage wines from their range, available for tasting and sale. The
wineries of Coonawarra have distinctive personalities, set among heritage buildings or more contemporary spaces, and offering special-release
wines that are only available at the cellar door.
The Royal Adelaide Show
- 7-15 September 2007:
South Australia's biggest annual event runs by the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia. Experiences run the whole
gamut from carnival rides, exhibitions and attractions to exquisite handicraft, cookery and wide variety of champion livestock and animals. It is at
the Show that rural South Australia and City business alike can showcase their best produce, wares and services.
The Royal Adelaide Show is the 'people's event' and truly offers something for everyone, such as food and wine tastings; entertainment with
bands, dancing, comedy acrobatic; exhibitions and displays; fashion parades; competitions; animals (livestock and pets); farmyard nursery and
animal petting area.
Australian Masters 2007
- 5-14 October 2007:
The Australian Masters Games return to Adelaide in 2007 now incorporating the Australasian Masters Games. The Games are a biennial multi-sport festival providing an opportunity for
people over the age of 30 years to participate in the sport(s) of their choice regardless of background or ability. Adelaide will again attract over
10,000 participants, who will take part in more than 50 team and individual sports over the ten day period. While the competition is important one
of the key attractions of the Games is the social interaction and spirit of camaraderie experienced by participants.
Tasting Australia
- 13-20 October 2007:
Tasting Australia is the most significant event of its kind, showcasing the very best the nation has to offer in food, wine, beer, gastronomic
discussion, hospitality, travel and lifestyle. This festival encompasses Adelaide and regions of South Australia. It's a hub to meet and exchange
ideas with the nation's chefs, restaurateurs, food growers and wine and beer makers. Tasting Australia promises eight days of the best in eating
and drinking blended with spicy discussion and cookery demonstrations with many of the world's leading food and wine professionals.
Panasonic World Solar Challenge
- 21 – 28 October 2007:
Known as the 'Brain-Sport of our time' the Panasonic World Solar Challenge participants will traverse more than 3000km of the Australian
continent from tropical Darwin to balmy Adelaide, in cars powered by nothing more than the sun. The 'Challenge', to design and build a car
capable of crossing Australia on the power of daylight, comprehends the most innovative research and development of alternative transport
technologies. Attracting teams and individuals from corporations and universities all over the world, the World Solar Challenge is a celebration of
achievement, of courage and the application of scientific knowledge in the field of solar technology.
