InterContinental Hotels
Group has bolstered its support for rugby in Australia, signing on as the
official accommodation provider to the inaugural Mazda Australian Rugby Championship for the next
two years.
Involving eight teams from Western Australia, the ACT, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales,
the three-month competition will see games held across Australia in lead-up to the finals in October.
IHG will provide accommodation at its InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn hotels across
Australia for players, team managers and coaches and tournament officials.
"After backing the international rugby circuit in Australia and New Zealand over several years, we're delighted to be extending our support to
the largest tournament on Australia's national rugby calendar," said IHG regional director of sales and marketing Australia, New Zealand and
South Pacific, Karin Nielsen.
"In addition to accommodating the players and officials participating in the tournament, we'll be providing fans with incentives to join their
teams at InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn hotels as the tournament unfolds across the country."
The 2007 Mazda Australian Rugby Championship kicks off on Friday 10
August.
