China Airlines
has appointed Mr. Ringo Chao Kuo-Shui as Chairman and President,
replacing Mr. Philip Hsing-Hsiung Wei, the former Chairman.
"As the national flag carrier of Taiwan, and with a global network, China Airlines presents Taiwan's diligent working spirit to the world," Mr. Chao said.
"We will all strive to hold ourselves accountable to our core values of flight safety, service, innovation and discipline, and we will work to make Taiwan proud of China Airlines."
"Apart from the rapid progress we have made over the past few
years, CAL needs to further enhance its flight safety," Mr. Chao
added. "I urge our
Maintenance team to achieve the same level of progress as our Flight Operations team, and to reach the highest standards of
flight safety."
Mr. Ringo Chao was born in 1956, and he graduated from Chinese Culture University with a Bachelor's Degree in English, and is presently
studying for an Executive MBA degree at National Chengchi University. In Mr. Chao's long airline career, he has served as President of
China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines, General Manager of EVA Air's Europe Branch, and General Manager of EVA Air's Thailand and San
Francisco branches. Mr. Chao has also served as Vice President of Taiwan Television Enterprise.
