The
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has appointed five new General Managers at its hotels in Hong Kong, Boston, Beijing, Macau and
Munich.
Anthony
Costa, most recently employed as Resident Manager of the
groups flagship Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, has been appointed General Manager of
The Landmark Mandarin
Oriental. Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental, he was with
the Four Seasons Hotel Group, where he held the position of Hotel Manager at their Dublin property. He has also held senior managerial roles with Radisson SAS Group in Leeds and
Helsinki as well as Airth Castle, Scotland.
Susanne
Hatje, most recently General Manager of The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, will become General Manager of
Mandarin
Oriental, Boston, opening in 2008. Prior to taking up her Hong Kong position, Ms Hatje held senior management positions with Mandarin
Oriental hotels in Hawaii and Munich. Having opened the Hong Kong hotel in 2005, Ms Hatje is now looking forward to launching
the elegant Mandarin Oriental, Boston located adjacent to the Prudential Center on prestigious Boylston Street.
Pierre
Barthes, most recently General Manager of
the Mandarin Oriental, Macau has moved to Beijing to open the Mandarin Oriental, Beijing. Located in the new, landmark headquarters of China Central Television in the central
business district of the Chinese capital, the hotel is scheduled to open in time for the Beijing Olympic games in 2008. A French native, Mr
Barthes has a wealth of more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. He joined
the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 1998 and held a variety of senior management positions in the Groups US hotels. Prior to his Macau appointment in 2004, Mr Barthes was
Resident Manager at Mandarin Oriental, New York, where he contributed to the successful opening of
the hotel.
Michael Ziemer will replace Pierre Barthes as General Manager of
the Mandarin Oriental,
Macau. For the past three years Michael has been
General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental, Munich, and most recently oversaw the stylish room renovation at this elegant hotel. He is now
looking forward to returning to Asia, where he was Resident Manager of the award-winning Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong prior to his move
to Europe. Mr Ziemer has more than 23 years of hospitality experience, which includes senior management positions in Saudi Arabia,
Germany, Australia and Hong Kong. Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental in 2003, Mr Ziemer was Hotel Manager of the Ritz-Carlton in Hong
Kong.
Lars Wagner has been appointed General Manager of the
Mandarin Oriental,
Munich. Mr Wagner, who is new to the
group, has two decades of senior experience in the global hospitality industry. He was Hotel Manager for
the Four Seasons, Prague and Resort Manager for Four Seasons, Provence. Mr Wagner was most recently General Manager of the
well known InterContinental Paris, Le Grand Hotel.
