Tiger Airways launches Flights to Chennai and Xiamen

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Monday, 29 October 2007

Tiger Airways has launched its first flight to the Indian Subcontinent Southern city of Chennai, as well as a new service to Xiamen, its fifth destination in Southern China.

Tiger Airways CEO Tony Davis said, “Tiger Airways is delighted to have reached yet another milestone within its short operating history. These new routes are a significant opportunity for Tiger Airways to bring affordable travel to Asia’s fast growing markets of India and China. We have seen strong response to our existing low fare services from China and are delighted to offer yet another low fare route for travel, sealing Tiger Airways’ position as the largest international low fare airline to serve China. Tiger Airways is now the only low fare airline to offer services across the whole of Asia Pacific, encompassing China, South East Asia, India and Australia.”

From its hub in Singapore, Tiger Airways now offers services to 7 countries while Tiger Airways Australia has recently launched its base, Terminal Four, at Melbourne Airport and is planning to operate domestic flights from November. With strategic location of  Tiger Airways bases in Singapore and Melbourne, the entire Tiger Airways network can be operated using a single fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, providing cost efficiencies.

Tiger Airways earlier this year obtained authority to operate extended twin engine operations (ETOPS), which enables the airline to operate more efficient direct routings between Singapore and points in southern India.

To celebrate the launch of the new routes with its customers, Tiger Airway will offer celebratory fares for the three new routes from just Sin$39.99 one way. This fare is applicable for bookings between 29 October – 4 November 2007 and travel between 12 February – 19 March 2008.
