Galileo
has signed a new long-term, global full content agreement with British Airways. The new three-year contract which will begin on 10 April
2007 will see British Airways fares and inventory made available to all Galileo-connected travel agents. British Airways has also agreed, under this
new deal, not to impose a GDS surcharge on bookings made by Galileo-connected travel agents.
Tiffany Hall, British Airways Head of Marketing and Distribution,
said, “We have been working with the GDSs for some time as our previous
contracts expired at the end of February. We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Galileo, which will reduce the airline's
distribution costs and ensures that our lowest fares can continue to be distributed to all Galileo travel agents.”
As well as providing agents with enriched GDS content, Galileo has recognised the need to develop integrated solutions focused on allowing
agents to offer the most comprehensive travel content to their customers. Through Galileo Leisure, Galileo Flight Integrator (Asia) and Galileo
Low Cost Air (Australia), Galileo has delivered a new way to serve the needs of full service carriers, low cost carriers and the agents by bringing
airline (non-GDS, Hosted & GDS-Hosted) content to the agency desktop in an integrated way.
