Gulf Air offers New Compensation Package to Cockpit and Cabin Crew

Travel News Asia Thursday, 23 August 2007

Gulf Air’s Board of Directors have approved a new compensation package for its cockpit and cabin crew, as part of the company’s ongoing alignment strategy.

“We are moving ahead full steam with the realignment of Gulf Air and this improved package is our appreciation for the flight deck and cabin crews’ hard work, dedication and commitment to further strengthen the Gulf Air brand,” said Gulf Air Board of Directors Chairman Mahmood Al Kooheji.

At an ordinary general assembly meeting at Gulf Air headquarters, the board, including members from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, also approved the company account for 2006.

For pilots, the new package includes significant increases to housing and schooling allowances. In addition, a new seniority system will be introduced, which the airline says will be more transparent.

“We have received a very positive response on these new packages which is in line with market standards and the overall economic standing of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is the leading financial centre in the Middle East,” said Gulf Air Acting Chief Executive, Björn Näf.

The company also has plans to install a performance appraisal system in line with Gulf Air’s strategy to boost transparency, people development and to prepare the company for future growth.
