The Andaman, Langkawi completes renovation of Room Interiors

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 21 August 2007

The Andaman, a luxury property managed by General Hotel Management (GHM), has launched a new look for its room interiors and bathrooms. Renovation works to the room interiors commenced in August 2006 and are now complete. The entire refurbishment programme will feature the upgrading of all its 187 deluxe rooms and selected facilities around the hotel and is scheduled to complete in July 2008.

Set on the pristine beach of The Datai Bay, The Andaman is a luxury hotel that features 187 deluxe rooms each with king or twin beds, a writing desk and chair, individually controlled air conditioning, and standard in-room amenities. The Executive Suites, Malaysian Suite and Presidential Suite feature king-sized beds while the Japanese Suite is twin-bedded. Each Suite has a separate living area, a spacious balcony and a private bar. The Japanese and Malaysian Suites are decorated in the authentic Asian styles and the 24 Lanai rooms feature sunning decks reaching out to the jungle.

Deluxe room interiors have been refurbished with an Asian-inspired design featuring plush furnishings in muted tones contrasted against dark wood floors. The new interior is designed by award-winning Indonesian designer Mr. Jaya Ibrahim, who has worked with selected GHM hotels around the world such as The Setai - South Beach, Miami; The Nam Hai - Hoi An, Vietnam; The Chedi - Milan; and The Heritage House - Mendocino, California.

The newly renovated deluxe rooms now feature a more spacious bath and dressing area with luxurious shower cabins complete with a rainfall shower, a private lavatory and a sunken terrazzo bathtub. Deluxe rooms also boast a 37" LCD flat screen TV, DVD player and an in-room espresso coffee machine.

"The refurbishments will help The Andaman maintain its edge as one of the luxury hotels in Langkawi," said Ms. Alison Fraser, General Manager of The Andaman. "With these hotel upgrades, we hope to continue to set the benchmark for what leisure and business travellers expect from a five-star hotel."
