Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley to open in August 2006

Travel News Asia 9 March 2006

Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley is on track to open in August 2006 as work on the hotel enters its final stages.

While an August opening represents an extension upon the original projections for completion in May, the purpose-built Crowne Plaza hotel is set to offer the newest meeting and conferencing facilities, together with bedrooms and self-contained villas for group events, weekend getaways and family holidays in the Hunter.

Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley’s impact on the local community was demonstrated last week when more than 660 hopefuls from across the Hunter and Newcastle region gathered in Cessnock to apply for 200 jobs on offer at the new hotel.

“The level of interest from potential employees has been phenomenal, as has the support from local businesses keen to work with us. There is a real buzz of excitement that continues to build as we move closer to opening what will be a unique accommodation and conferencing offering in the Hunter,” said General Manager, Neil Houghton.

“The extra time afforded us by the extended opening date will ensure everything is absolutely perfect and ready to go once the first guests arrive. We are receiving an escalating number of booking requests from conference and meeting organisers and leisure guests, and want to make sure that every facet of Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley – from the meeting spaces and public areas, restaurants and hotel rooms to the villas, golf course, spa and recreational activities – eclipses their high expectations,” Mr Houghton said.
