Some of the world’s leading child psychiatrists, allied professionals and academics are attending an international congress in Melbourne
this week that has opened its doors to the general public for the first time.
The Congress of the International Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP) opens at the
Melbourne Convention Centre on Sunday. The congress will embrace the community by allowing the general public to present and attend
sessions throughout the four day event.
CEO of Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau (MCVB), Sandra Chipchase has welcomed the return of the event which was last held in
Melbourne in 1978.
“Melbourne is renowned as a major research and development hub in the Asia Pacific region, especially in the area of medical sciences.
This status is a natural catalyst for attracting international conventions,” she said.
“IACAPAP’s 1,200 delegates will spend more than 5,600 room nights in Melbourne hotels and inject more than
A$7.8 million into the State’s economy.
IACAPAP runs from 10 – 14 September at the Melbourne Exhibition & Convention Centre.
