Magne Hansen appointed GM of Park Plaza Sukhumvit Bangkok

Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific has appointed Mr. Magne Hansen to the position of general manager, Park Plaza Sukhumvit Bangkok.

The 88 room hotel, which is Carlson’s first Park Plaza in Thailand, is currently under construction and due to open in January 2007.

As general manager of the hotel, Magne Hansen will be responsible for overseeing all pre-opening activities, including staff recruitment and training, as well as all operational, sales and marketing activities once the hotel is fully operational.

The Park Plaza Sukhumvit Bangkok will be located on Soi 16 on Sukhumvit. The hotel will reflect a classic contemporary feel and will boast high tech facilities, pool, and gym and will reflect an ‘Executive Club’ environment from the lobby, front desk, food & beverage through to the guest rooms.

Prior to joining Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific, Magne Hansen held the position of General Manager at Arnoma Hotel Bangkok. During his time there, Magne was responsible for increasing the resort’s profitability, growing the average room rate, repositioning the resort in the domestic market and improving guest and employee satisfaction levels. During his tenure Magne managed the upcoming renovation and upgrade of the hotel as well as planning around the re-branding of the hotel.

Magne Hansen has more than 25 years experience in the hotel industry, including twelve years in Scandinavia, three years based in California and the past eight years in leading resorts in Thailand. As a result of his international experience, Magne is fluent in four languages and conversational in three.

Magne Hansen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management from the University of San Francisco and has completed a Diploma in Hotel Management from the Norwegian College of Hotel Management, Norway.
