Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific appoints Karen Baldwin Director of Sales, Sydney

Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific has appointed Karen Baldwin (nee Wares) to the position of director of sales based in Sydney. She will have direct responsibility for managing relationships with key corporate, consortia, MICE and leisure clients across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. Karen will also assume the additional responsibility of servicing the long-haul market of North America across all segments.

Karen has been associated with Radisson Hotels & Resorts for the past thirteen years. In her previous role as General Manager at Radisson Kestrel Hotel on Manly Beach in Sydney, she was actively involved with the local community and Chamber of Commerce to further promote tourism. During her tenure, the hotel received numerous awards for its superior performance and excellent service standards.

With over fifteen years experience in the tourism and hotel industry, Karen previously held positions with Radisson Hotel Newcastle, All Seasons Apollo Hotel Charleston, All Seasons Hotels & Resorts, and Marina Resort Port Stephens. Karen also holds memberships to the Australian Hotel Association, Tourism Industry Council New South Wales and the Manly Chamber of Commerce as vice president.

Karen was awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution by an Individual’ at the annual Tourism New South Wales Awards in November 2004, while in 2003 Karen was awarded the ‘Centenary Medal’ for contribution to the marketing and promotion of Manly as a tourism destination and the implementation of effective management practices.
