The Singapore Tourism Board’s Project Postcard
is returning for the fourth consecutive year with an aim to reach over two million
households across the island. Available as both postcards and e-cards in a variety of eye catching designs in over 750 outlets island wide
as well as the Internet, Project Postcard 2006 is set to be the biggest rally call yet for residents in Singapore to become the city’s tourism
ambassadors.
With pre-paid international postage, each set of three specially designed postcards as well as e-cards tell a vibrant Singapore story
featuring popular local icons such as the Merlion, Ice Kachang, Orchard Road and local food. Singaporeans, permanent residents and
foreigners residing in Singapore can send these Uniquely Singapore postcards to their overseas friends and relatives inviting them to visit
Singapore and experience its colourful and rich blend of cultures first-hand.
In addition, there will be two lucky draws where 40 lucky postcard senders will be picked to win attractive prize hampers each worth
approximately Sin$270, comprising dining vouchers from Indochine, spa vouchers from The Retreat Spa and tickets for two to enjoy popular
Singapore attractions like the DHL Balloon and the Duck Tours. Six grand prize winners will also win a two day/one night stay at The
Fullerton Hotel Singapore and a ride aboard the Hippo Bus in addition to the prize hamper. Prizes for overseas winners include Singapore
Airlines economy class return tickets for two and a four day/three night stay at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore in addition to a prize hamper.
Mr Bill Ang, Director of Brand Management at the Singapore Tourism
Board said, “The concept behind Project Postcard is two-fold. On the one hand, we want to provide Singapore residents with an excellent opportunity and impetus to play their role as tourism
ambassadors and share the uniqueness of Singapore with the world. On the other hand, for the recipient, there is nothing more endearing
or compelling than to receive a personal invitation from a friend or relative to visit Singapore.”
“Encouraged by the growing success of Project Postcard and the continued commitment of our partners, we are moving deeper into the
heartlands this year by increasing the reach and ease of availability of these postcards island wide. We’ve also added electronic cards as
another option. By enhancing and strengthening our distribution network manifold, we target to distribute an estimated 7.5 million
postcards,” he added.
Project Postcard 2006 will kick start with a distribution drive in the satellite towns of Toa Payoh and Bishan, led by Tourism Club
Ambassadors of River Valley Primary, on Saturday 25 November 2006. These student tourism ambassadors will also be the first to send
Project Postcards to their overseas friends, inviting them to visit Singapore.
The Tourism Club was set up to engage local students to host overseas school groups in Singapore and to encourage cultural exchange and foster bilateral relationships between the students of the
school and the overseas students. There are over 39 Tourism Clubs in Singapore.
Subsequently, the postcards will be distributed to approximately 1.35 million households through an island-wide mail drop initiative by
Singapore Post. For six weeks, from 27 November 2006 to 5 January 2007, Singapore residents will also be able to find these postcards at
all Guardian Pharmacy outlets, Zo Cards outlets, a dozen McCafe outlets including the ones at Tampines and Boon Lay, Singapore
Science Centre and popular tourist attractions at Sentosa like Sentosa Luge, Underwater World, Sky Tower. The cards will also be
available at 62 post offices across the island, at international schools including Waseda Shibuya Senior High School, Overseas Family
School, International Community School and Singapore American School, as well as at the Indian, Indonesian and American Embassies.
