Great Hotels Organisation to launch New ‘One-Screen Booking Solution’ at WTM

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 24 October 2006

G-rez by Great Hotels Organisation (GHO) is set to unveil its new web booking engine for hotels, called G-wiz, at this year’s World Travel Market in London. For the first time, hotels will be able to view the innovative technology, which offers one of the only one-screen solutions in the market-place.

G-wiz was created in conjunction with hospitality experts and the hoteliers that will be directly using the product. Designed to maximise the opportunity of hotels’ own websites, the product offers a variety of unique features, which will help enhance hotels’ abilities to maximise on yield.

The pioneering technology behind G-wiz includes the use of AJAX; a new way of programming which creates the functionality of a desktop application within the accessibility of a website. Consequently, G-wiz will specifically maximise return on investment by enabling a hotel website to offer the right products to the right customer at the right time. The system enables hotels to load and promote specific hotel packages, as well as allow guests to tailor-make their own, so that different customer needs can be met accordingly. The distinction means corporate visitors can be quickly presented with the specific rates and services they need, while time rich leisure guests are presented with the full range of package possibilities, as well as the extra options which form the basis of tailor-made packages. The better consumer experience that is subsequently created then helps to establish a direct and more meaningful long-term guest-hotel relationship that would otherwise not be possible.

The system is multi-lingual in its functionality, enabling hotels to maximise on bookings from international visitors. The initial languages available will be English, German, French, Spanish and Italian, with further additions possible as part of future upgrades according to demand.

Additional system features will be introduced gradually as part of a series of scheduled upgrades. These include the ability to book multiple rooms within a single reservation and to specify room types for children travelling with adults; a further unique feature not currently provided by any other booking engine system.

A sophisticated inbuilt e-marketing tool will also be introduced to enable customer relationship marketing activities. A database of customer information will be individually built, enabling hotels to create a series of targeted e-campaigns according to their strategic needs.

A search engine page generator that optimises web pages in a hope to help hotels achieve better rankings in the important natural search market place has also been integrated into the system.

A demand management tool will act as a further feature and help the onward distribution of hotel rates to other contracted and negotiated ADS portals so that the G-wiz effects become even more cost effective and further reaching in their impact.

Yunna Takeuchi, Director of e-Distribution, GHO, said, “As the online marketplace increases in importance within the hotel industry, hotels need to ensure they remain at the forefront of technological developments. GHO is committed to help hotels efficiently achieve this aim and is delighted to have produced the G-wiz technology which will become indispensable in order for them to succeed.”
