MasterCard offering cardholders over 70,000 prizes worth over MOP 3 million in inaugural 'The Best of Macau 2006' campaign

MasterCard Worldwide is currently offering its cardholders over 70,000 great prizes worth over MOP 3 million in line with its inaugural “The Best of Macau 2006” campaign.

The campaign, which began in September 2006, aims to bring MasterCard cardholders the best shopping and dining experience when visiting Macau. It will provide MasterCard cardholders the chance to win an annual helicopter pass or TurboJET tickets between Hong Kong and Macau, as well as, enjoy exclusive discounts and complimentary gifts when they make purchases with their MasterCard card.

With this, we are committed to provide our cardholders exciting and memorable experiences when they visit the historical city. We are delighted to collaborate with the Travel Industry Council of Macau and Macau Association of Retailers and Tourism Services and look forward to promoting Macau as a premier shopping and tourist destination.”

With the support of the Travel Industry Council of Macau and Macau Association of Retailers and Tourism Services, MasterCard cardholders will receive various benefits at over 50 merchants in Macau. The campaign will run until 31 December 2006..

As part of “The Best of Macau 2006” campaign, MasterCard has appointed Macau-born twins cum famous artistes – Soler – to be the MasterCard “The Best of Macau 2006” Ambassadors. The twins will collaborate with MasterCard to promote the retail and tourism industry in Macau.

By simply using their MasterCard card, consumers can enjoy:

- Receiving discounts or complimentary gifts from select “The Best of Macau 2006” merchants, ranging from dining, entertainment, beauty, shopping and travel.

- For every purchase of MOP 200 (approximately HK$ 194) made to their MasterCard card, receive a “scratch and win” card, which will provide instant rewards equaling to a total value of over MOP 3 million at participating merchants. Gift items include complimentary meal vouchers, further discounts or one night's stay in an executive suite at the Grand Emperor Hotel in Macau.

- Winning a round-trip TurboJET ticket between Hong Kong and Macau, by simply calling or sending an SMS to a designated MasterCard number. Winners will be drawn every Friday during the campaign period to receive a round-trip TurboJET ticket. A total of 50 tickets will be given away each week for 11 weeks until 30 November 2006.

- Standing the chance to win a Lucky Draw Grand Prize, which will be announced at the end of the campaign. One lucky cardholder will receive a grand prize of an annual pass to fly on a helicopter between Hong Kong and Macau once every month.

In line with the campaign, MasterCard has also launched “The Best of Macau Awards 2006” contest to give recognition to merchants for their products and service quality. During the campaign, MasterCard cardholders visiting Macau will be invited to vote for merchants for select categories who they feel should win an award. When selecting their favorite restaurant, hotel, souvenir shop, spa and top entertainment spot, MasterCard cardholders will also double their chance of winning the Grand Lucky Draw prize.

“Rewarding merchants is our way of thanking them for their support over the years. With this, we believe that consumers’ reviews would be ideal as it would be based on their experience with the merchants,” said Cheung.

An Awards ceremony announcing the winners will be held in Macau in mid-December 2006.

MasterCard has been the Official Card of the Malaysian Mega Sale Carnival (MMSC) since 2000, the Great Singapore Sale since 2004 and the Taipei Great Sale as of 2006.
