Etihad Airways appoints new Vice President - Commercial

Etihad Airways has appointed Mr Geert W Boven as Vice President - Commercial. Mr Boven will oversee all communications and take overall responsibility for worldwide marketing and guest sales, commercial planning as well as Etihad Holidays.

Mr Boven brings over 27 years of professional experience to the role, with a comprehensive understanding ranging from operational process and quality control, commercial and marketing responsibility to general management and board level experience. He joins from Oad Group, the Dutch all-round tour operator where he was CEO.

Commenting on the new appointment, Mr Boven said, “In my capacity as Vice President-Commercial, the ultimate goal is to work together to create a truly outstanding 21st century airline that will play an ever increasing role in positioning Abu Dhabi as a central hub across the region and as a popular link between East and West”.

Prior to joining OAD Group, Geert was Senior Vice President Passenger Marketing and Sales with Martinair, the Dutch leisure carrier for five years. In the 18 years until 1996, Geert worked in several senior management positions for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, South Korea, India and Schiphol Airport.

“Returning to the aviation industry, my main focus will be to realise the projected growth in aircraft, network expansion and passenger sales serving our many new and existing destinations around the world – and to ensure that we continue to provide our guests with excellent services at every touchpoint,” concluded Boven.
