Multimap Australasia in Online Mapping Deal with Commonwealth Travel Services Corporation

Travel News Asia 14 February 2006

Multimap, one of the world's leading online mapping providers, today announced the implementation of its online mapping services for the Commonwealth Travel Services Corporation (CTC), at the Travel Distribution Summit in Singapore (14th & 15th February, 2006). Now, customers of one of the largest and most trusted travel and tour operators in Singapore can access content-rich, easy-to-read interactive maps of their hotel destinations in Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The site enhancement is expected to increase the conversion rate of lookers to bookers, by lowering the barriers to booking online.

Joycelyn Su, Senior Outbound Manager, CTC, "We are thrilled to offer our customers access to street- and regional-level map coverage of the Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Multimap's coverage is without doubt of the best quality consistently for these areas, making it the obvious mapping partner of choice for CTC. The implementation of the service was straightforward and achieved in a matter of days; couple this with the expected boost in sales, and the ROI is considerable."

To access a list of hotels in Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong, with their respective hotel rates and cities, visitors to CTC's website click on the 'Hotels Rates' link to the left of the screen. Once they have selected a hotel of interest by clicking on it, further details are delivered, including a street-level map, with zoom in/out and pan N,S,E,W functionality, on which the exact location of the hotel of interest is pinpointed with a red circle. The maps delivered flag up local points of interest such as museums, sports grounds, metro stations, hospitals and golf courses, ensuring that people researching hotels on CTC have as much location information to hand as possible when they come to booking a hotel.

Chris Warrick, Managing Director, Multimap Australasia said, "Multimap has almost a decade's experience in providing premium online mapping and location-based services to companies across the globe, many of which are in the travel sector. Our business clients tell us that the addition of our mapping services to their websites boosts their customers' confidence to proceed to make a booking. If a holiday maker or business traveller can see how close a hotel really is to a particular venue, conference centre or tourist site, on a map, rather than having to rely on a written promise - and see what else is located in the area - they are much more likely to make a booking. We're delighted to welcome CTC on board, so that its customers may also reap the benefits of this invaluable service."
