LAN Airlines, a member of the oneworld global alliance,
is to introduce a fifth weekly flight from Sydney to Santiago on
Tuesday, 8 November 2005, and has foreshadowed a sixth weekly service by November 2006.
LAN’s fifth flight from Sydney will operate every Tuesday, complementing its current schedule of Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday services.
Flight LA 800 departs Sydney at 10.15am, arriving in Santiago, via Auckland, New Zealand, at 12.10pm the same day – a journey of 16 ½ hours.
The return service, flight LA801, leaves Santiago at 11.10 pm every Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, arriving in Sydney, via Auckland, at 7.20 am
on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays – a total flight time of 18 hours.
All LAN Airlines flights from Australia are operated with 259-seat Airbus A340-300 aircraft, with personal video screens in every seat in each of the three classes.
The Sydney - Santiago flights are code-shared with fellow oneworld member Qantas, which enables passengers from throughout Australia to connect with LAN’s
Sydney departures, as well as providing onward domestic flights for passengers arriving from South America.
Travellers from cities other than Sydney can fly with Qantas to Auckland in order to connect with the LAN Airlines services to South America - and on their return
journeys, passengers can connect with flights from Auckland to their home cities.
The LAN Airlines Group consists of LAN Chile, LAN Peru, LAN Ecuador, LAN Express and its most recent member LAN Argentina.
Together, these airlines form the LAN Airlines alliance, combining their operations into one major network, offering a world-class product for all air transport
requirements to, from and within Latin America.
From Santiago, the LAN group offers onward flights within Chile, and to other South American markets including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican
Republic, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The new LAN Argentina also offers a growing range of services from Buenos Aires to domestic destinations, initially Cordoba, Mendoza, Rio Gallegos, Bariloche and
Iguazu.
In addition to flights within South America, LAN Airlines offers onward services to destinations including North America and Europe.
The carrier also offers flights from Santiago to the increasingly-popular destination of Havana, Cuba.
Recently
