Travel News Asia 5 May 2005

Sydney’s newest upscale hotel, the Hilton Sydney is to open for business on 15 July 2005. As construction nears completion, Hilton will gain possession of the hotel from Leighton Contractors on a progressive basis, culminating in the 15 July opening.

Already accepting bookings, the AUD$400 million hotel will have four dedicated levels of flexible conference and convention space totalling 4,000 square metres. With the capacity to accommodate meetings for a handful of people or a conference for up to 3000 delegates, the Hilton Sydney will be one of the largest event hotels in Australia

Mr Koos Klein, President, Hilton International Middle East and Asia Pacific said, “After five years of hard work and dedication, we’re thrilled to announce that the Hilton Sydney is almost complete and that this exceptional building is ready to make its mark on Sydney. Situated on an entire city block between George and Pitt streets in the heart of the CBD, Hilton Sydney will be the leading upscale hotel in the city, offering corporate and leisure travellers a true Sydney experience - unmatched by any other hotel.

“The events and conference space in particular, with cutting-edge facilities, will set a new benchmark for Sydney and Australia,” he said.

Mr Oded Lifschitz, Vice President, Hilton Australasia said, “The project architect and interior designers were encouraged to maximise and accentuate the building’s wide-open spaces and natural light and that’s exactly what they’ve done. The end result is a stylish and inspiring hotel in the hub of one of the world’s most exciting and cosmopolitan cities.”
