The Private Reserve at Soneva Gili in the Maldives - The Ultimate Dream Suite

Travel News Asia 25 August 2005

The Private Reserve at Soneva Gili in the Maldives is to be unveiled on September 01 2005; creating the criterion by which over-water luxury could very well be measured. It could be likened to the calibre of a presidential suite, but then the comparison stops as it is like no other.

The Private Reserve is made up of six buildings, which house two master suites plus accommodation for guests, and extensive leisure areas. A private spa features a sauna, steam room as well as a chill shower, and massage pavilion; and an air conditioned gym. A personal Mr. & Mrs Friday are on call at all times - with their own on-premise quarters. There is even a waterslide into the lagoon.

The Private Reserve at Soneva Gili covers an area of one thousand four hundred square metres, making it incomparable in both size and style. The complex also includes a kitchen and wine cellar, and vast central living and entertaining area. And all this is created in the ecologically friendly rustic chic style of Soneva.

Arrival is from across the azure lagoon of Soneva Gili. Disembark into a glass-floored foyer with daybeds and seating arrangements. Ahead lies the central entertaining pavilion. To both sides, along water bridges are the master suites. Each has a bedroom, living area and bathroom with double vanities atop granite stands and a glass-enclosed circular shower accessed by a walkway through a private water garden. The bathtub is situated on its own deck within the water garden. Breathtaking sea views can be enjoyed from every room. There are water decks for lounging and a rooftop deck with daybed that can be made up for sleeping beneath the stars.

From the foyer, step out to a huge water-level sun deck. This area has circular alfresco dining and entertaining features, plus a spacious undercover lounge. Upstairs is an enormous roof deck with seating and lounges, plus a dining area that can seat a dozen guests; an exhilarating spot from which to survey the endless horizons.
