New Head of Media Relations at British Airways

British Airways has appointed former Daily Telegraph transport correspondent Paul Marston as its head of media relations.

Paul will run the airlines 24 hour news operation, reporting to head of corporate communications, Iain Burns.

He will be responsible for British Airways global media strategy with a particular focus on promoting corporate and consumer news, as well as crisis management. He will lead a team of six press officers, based at the airlines Heathrow headquarters.

Iain Burns commented on the appoitment, Paul brings with him a wealth of industry and media expertise. His passion for the transport beat and his in-depth knowledge of consumer and environmental issues made him the best man for the job. After a long and prestigious career in journalism, Paul will be a great asset to the airlines press office and were looking forward to welcoming him onboard.

Paul began his journalism career in 1977. He joined the Mirror Group as a trainee after graduating from University College London. He subsequently moved to the Press Association as a political correspondent. Paul joined the Daily Telegraph in 1987 as education correspondent before becoming transport correspondent in 1996, specialising in aviation and rail. 

Paul, who is married with three children, joins the airline on Monday, March 21, 2005. He replaces Steve Double who left the airline in August 2004.
