New low cost Mexican Airline to acquire Ten A320s

ABC Aerolíneas of Mexico today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for the acquisition of ten new A320s with ten options. Deliveries of the newly ordered A320s will begin in the second quarter of 2007.

ABC will launch its new air transport service under the INTERJET commercial brand.

Interjet is based at Toluca airport, next to Mexico City and will start scheduled services in early December 2005. Interjet’s initial fleet consists of seven A320s recently acquired in Europe by the company.

“The A320 is the reference on the low cost market. It offers us the ideal combination of the lowest operating costs and the highest level of passenger comfort, security and operational reliability” said Miguel Alemán, CEO and President of Interjet, “Interjet will introduce the low-fares air transport services concept in the Mexican industry whilst preserving the highest standards of service quality and security for business travellers on dense high-yield domestic routes in Mexico.
