Qantas to add Queenstown to Year-Round Route Network

Travel News Asia 12 July 2005

Qantas is adding Queenstown to its year-round route network from 1 October 2005.

Qantas currently operates services to Queenstown from Sydney and Brisbane during the ski season.

Executive General Manager of Qantas, Mr John Borghetti, said the start of the new weekly Queenstown service, operating from Sydney on Saturdays, would coincide with the end of the region's ski season.

"Our ski season flights from Sydney and Brisbane have been increasingly popular since they were first introduced.

"The decision to extend the Sydney-Queenstown service to a permanent operation reflects the growing attraction of Queenstown as a year-round holiday destination for Australians," he said.

Qantas will operate two-class Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the route, accommodating up to 150 return passengers a week.
