CAPA Awards to be presented in Kuala Lumpur in December 2005

The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation is to announce the winners of its Aviation Awards for Excellence 2005 at a Gala Dinner to be hosted by Tourism Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, on 5 December 2005.

Previous award winners, including AirAsia CEO, Tony Fernandes, will be present at the event, on the first evening of the 2nd Annual Asia Pacific Aviation Outlook Summit 2006.

The Centre’s Executive Chairman, Peter Harbison, who will be hosting the awards, said “this is one of the top nights in the calendar for the Asia Pacific and Middle East aviation community. Every year it is a great privilege to honour the region’s best companies and leaders for their innovation and strategic influence on our industry. Many of this year’s categories are hotly contested. It promises to be a spectacular evening”.

Other high profile guests to grace the red carpet at this year’s Gala Dinner include former easyJet CEO, Ray Webster.

The CAPA Awards for Excellence categories include:

- The CAPA Airline of the Year
- The CAPA New Airline of the Year
- The CAPA Low Cost Airline of the Year
- The CAPA Airline Turnaround of the Year
- The CAPA Airport of the Year 
- The CAPA New Airport of the Year
- The CAPA Aviation Executive of the Year
- The CAPA Aviation Minister of the Year

The CAPA Award winners will be announced and presented on the night of the 5th at the Gala Dinner. All Awards have been judged by a panel of the Centre's industry experts, applying pre-determined criteria. The judgements take into account performance in key areas during 2005.
