1. Gerben Bloemendaal Joins HG Travel as Managing Director - Myanmar
HG Travel has appointed Gerben Bloemendaal as Managing Director of its office in Myanmar. A Dutch national, Gerben has over 15 years of travel industry experience, 10 of which have been in Southeast Asia. He worked in senior management positions for renowned DMCs in Thailand and Vietnam before joining the HG Travel leadership team.

HG Travel, a destination management company (DMC), has rebranded as Asia DMC. The name change is part of the company's plans expand within the Asia Pacific region. In addition to its already established presence in Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Thailand, Asia DMC plans to open offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, China, India and Sri Lanka over the next 12 months.

Airbus has commenced final assembly of the very first A330neo, an A330-900. Both the A330-800 and A330-900 feature a new A350-inspired wing with Sharklet wingtip devices, latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, and the new AirSpace by Airbus cabin.
4. China Airlines Takes Delivery of First Airbus A350-900 Aircraft
China Airlines (CAL) has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-900, becoming the ninth airline to operate the twin engine widebody aircraft. CAL’s A350-900 is configured with a three-class layout offering a total of 306 seats, comprising 32 in Premium Business class, convertible to fully lie-flat beds, 31 in Premium Economy and 243 seats in Economy Class.

North Slope Borough (NSB), Alaska, has taken delivery of its first Sikorsky S-92 helicopter. The helicopter was selected to provide an airborne response to aero medical evacuation (medevac), search and rescue operations (SAR) and other emergencies.

Japan Airlines has extended its spare parts agreement with Boeing for a further 10 years. The renewed Japan Airlines agreement for Boeing’s GoldCare Expendables, formerly Integrated Materials Management (IMM), is an expendable parts service solution that builds on more than a decade of success.
7. Smiths Detection to Enhance Security at Berlin Brandenburg Airport
Smiths Detection has signed a contract to provide hold baggage screening equipment, which complies with the latest EU regulations – EDS Standard 3, for the German Federal Police. The equipment will be used at the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport BER.
8. Delta to Launch New York - Lisbon, Boston - Dublin and New York - Berlin
Delta is to launch flights between Boston and Dublin, New York and Lisbon as well as recommence flights between New York and Berlin. Starting 25 May 2017, Delta will introduce nonstop seasonal flights between Dublin Airport and Boston Logan International Airport. The flight will complement Delta’s existing services to Dublin from New York-JFK and Atlanta.
