Gerben Bloemendaal Joins HG Travel as Managing Director - Myanmar

HG Travel has appointed Gerben Bloemendaal as Managing Director of its office in Myanmar (Burma).

A Dutch national, Gerben has over 15 years of travel industry experience, 10 of which have been in Southeast Asia. He worked in senior management positions for renowned DMCs in Thailand and Vietnam before joining the HG Travel leadership team.

"HG Travel is a breath of fresh air for the travel industry in Asia. Full of ideas, creativity, respect for the destinations and a deep commitment to the communities in which they operate," Gerben said. "I am delighted to be joining and we will work to continue to deliver exceptional programmes in Myanmar."

The appointment in Myanmar is part of a wider rollout strategy of offices around the region over the next 12-months as the Hanoi-based DMC establishes a network of operations manned by seasoned experts in key markets, adding to its established presence in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar.

HG Travel Myanmar will unveil a range of new tours at the upcoming World Travel Market exhibition in London from 7-9 November.

"We are deeply committed to offering a series of new and exciting travel experiences for our worldwide partners to sell and expand our already extensive product range," said HG Travel co-founder, Mr Tran Thanh Nam. "What is key for us this year at WTM is to demonstrate our product ingenuity and community philosophy in Myanmar which is a central part of our expansion plans for the next 12 months."

HG Travel currently handles 50,000 inbound arrivals from international markets with Europe, Russia, China, Australia and the US as key source markets.
