281. MVI Launches Mobile Device Management Solution for Hotels
Together with local partner IBM, MVI has integrated the new enterprise-class MDM solution at the L’Hotel élan, which recently opened in Hong Kong. The hotel provides an iPad for guest use in all of its 250 rooms as the principal entertainment device, offering eGuest services such as TV channels and interactive guest services including in-room dining.

For the first time in five years, travellers paid more on average for their hotel rooms during the first six months of 2012 in all parts of the world, according to the latest Hotels.com Hotel Price Index. Ibis Christchurch opened its doors on Tuesday, becoming one of the first city centre hotels to re-open since the February 2011 earthquake. The Ibis – located in Hereford Street, just off Cathedral Square – has undergone major remedial work, including the renovation of all 155 rooms and public areas, as well as structural strengthening to meet the city’s new building code.

Airbus’ latest Global Market Forecast (GMF) identifies a need for some 28,200 passenger and freighter aircraft (of 100 seats or more) between 2012 and 2031 worth nearly US$4 trillion, reconfirming an upward trend in the pace of new aircraft deliveries. Of these over 27,350 will be passenger aircraft valued at US$ 3.7 trillion.

The Michelin two-star Shang Palace Chinese Restaurant at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong, reopens today after a recent refurbishment programme. New facilities have been added to the expanded restaurant, including a brand new, dedicated wine cellar inside the restaurant as well as a 20-seat grand private dining room in addition to three other private dining rooms.

In addition, the group entered Yemen with the soft launch of Coral Hotel – Aden.
