MVI Launches Mobile Device Management Solution for Hotels

The Asia-focused hotel technology provider MVI, has launched a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution that provides management of smart mobile devices to support interactive, live and on-demand video services in hotels.

Together with local partner IBM, MVI has integrated the new enterprise-class MDM solution at the L’Hotel élan, which recently opened in Hong Kong.

The hotel provides an iPad for guest use in all of its 250 rooms as the principal entertainment device, offering eGuest services such as TV channels and interactive guest services including in-room dining.

“Our aim was to take full advantage of today’s travelers’ increasing affinity with mobile devices, so implementing a device management system to cater to our specific requirements was of paramount importance,” said Sylvia Chung, General Manager of the L’Hotel élan. “With MVI’s MDM Solution we can ensure the security and manageability of the devices as well as guests’ privacy while using them without compromising flexibility and usability.”

Integrating fully with hotel PMS and POS systems, MVI’s MDM solution becomes part of a hotel’s overall management ecosystem and its minimal training requirements on device provisioning and support services means the workload of the hotel IT department is not strained.

Besides standard MDM features that ensure devices are centrally managed, secured, tracked, configured and supported, MVI’s MDM Solution offers hotels select management features, including:

- Customised workflow to streamline the installation of hotels’ managed apps on mobile device
- Comprehensive push-based notification management
- Device tracking and location-based messaging within hotel premises
- Customised workflow to reinstate mobile devices during the check-in/out process
- Protection of guests’ own data and personal information for apps that required login
- Remote management of all hotel features, including VOD, TV channels and interactive services
- Dashboard management console enabling individual management of each hotel device
- Availability for all Apple mobile devices. Limited availability for Android devices.

MVI’s MDM solution is integrated with the company’s next generation IPTV in-room entertainment system which has been installed - aside from the L’Hotel élan - by hotels across Asia, including the Hotel ICON Hong Kong, Island Shangri-La Hong Kong, Lanson Place Hong Kong, Mandarin Orchard Singapore, Fullerton and Fullerton Bay Hotels Singapore and others, in conjunction with MVI’s local partners.
