17. Emirates Orders More Airbus A380s
Emirates has placed an order with Airbus for an additional two new A380 aircraft, to be delivered in the 4th quarter of 2017. Emirates already operates the world’s largest fleet of Airbus A380s, with 75 in service and a further 65 on firm order. The additional two aircraft, to be powered by Rolls Royce Trent 900 engines will take Emirates’ total A380 order book to 142.

Figures released this week show international visitation to the Solomon Islands, for the period January – December 2015, increased from 20,061 in 2014 to 21,623 – a growth of 7.8%. Australian visitor arrivals again led the way, the 9509 total recorded for the 12 month period representing a 4.10% increase over 2014 and accounting for 43.9% of the 2015 total.

21. Kenya Beat Fiji to Win Singapore Sevens
Kenya, ranked eighth in the world, shocked defending champion and Series leader Fiji 30-7 to win the 2016 HSBC World Rugby Singapore Sevens. The Kenyans raced to a 20-0 lead at half-time before Fiji’s Jerry Tu scored a converted try to bring the score to 7-20. However tries from substitute Nelson Oyoo and Frank Wanyama ensured Kenya their first ever World Rugby Series Cup victory.
22. First Asian Customer Orders Airbus ACJ319neo
An undisclosed Asian customer has become the first in the region to place a firm order for an Airbus ACJ319neo , delivery of which is planned for the second quarter of 2019. The client, which is upgrading from a large, traditional, business jet, is also the first new customer for the ACJneo Family. Engines and cabin outfitter have yet to be announced.
23. Outrigger Joins Global Hotel Alliance
Outrigger has joined Global Hotel Alliance (GHA). With Outrigger as a member, GHA expands its footprint to new markets, including Outrigger’s home base of Hawaii, plus Fiji, Guam and Mauritius, while strengthening its presence in Maldives and Thailand, adding a total of nine resorts to GHA’s network of 33 independent brands and over 550 hotels.

Mantra Group is preparing to open its first prefabricated Peppers Hotel, the Peppers Kings Square in Perth, Australia. Scheduled for completion in around six months, the prefabricated hotel by Hickory Building Systems patented construction technology utilises elements including modular bathrooms, pre-attached facades and precast concrete panels.
