10. July 2011 - Record Month for US Hotel Industry
According to data from STR, the U.S. hotel industry in July 2011 reported the largest number of rooms sold during a single month. The industry reported a 3.6% increase in demand for the month with more than 105 million room nights sold. This is only the second time the industry has sold more than 100 million room nights in any given month, the last time being July 2010.
11. Changi Reports July 2011 Traffic; FY10/11 Results
Singapore Changi Airport marked its 30th anniversary in July 2011 by handling a record 4.17 million passenger movements during the month, an increase of 13.6% compared to July 2010. This surpasses the previous monthly high of 4.06 million passenger movements in December 2010. Year-to-date, passenger movements grew 11.2% to 26.6 million.
12. Strong Growth for Finnair’s Asian Traffic in July 2011
In July 2011, Finnair traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres rose by 14.6% as the overall capacity grew 14.7% compared with July 2010. Asian traffic capacity measured in Available Seat Kilometres grew close to 30% and traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres increased by 26%.

14. Cathay Pacific to Launch New Uniform on 8 July 2011
Cathay Pacific has confirmed 8 July 2011 as the launch date of the airline’s new uniforms. The uniforms will be worn by 13,000 staff worldwide, including more than 8,000 cabin crew and 4,000 staff working in airports, reservations and cargo teams around the network.
15. Cathay Pacific Reports July 2011 Traffic
Cathay Pacific and Dragonair carried a total of 2,524,206 passengers last month – up 1.6% on the same month last year – while the passenger load factor fell by 1.4 percentage points to 86.1%. Capacity for the month, measured in available seat kilometres (ASKs), was up by 7%. For the year to date, the number of passengers carried increased by 1.7% while capacity was up by 9.4%.
16. STR Reports Global Hotel Pipelines for July 2011
The Asia Pacific hotel development pipeline comprises 1,244 hotels totalling 306,537 rooms. China ended the month with the largest number of rooms in the In Construction phase with 120,298 rooms. Four other countries reported more than 5,000 rooms under construction: India (29,127 rooms); Thailand (9,182 rooms); Vietnam (8,554 rooms); and Indonesia (6,456 rooms).
